Most people think of herbal teas as a simple soothing beverage, but if made properly, herbal teas (tisanes) can be potent tools for healing and maintaining health.
In this workshop, Clinical Herbalist Erin Antosh, will discuss the power of incorporating an herbal tea ritual into your day, as you sip nutritive herbal tea (caffeine free). Erin will demonstrate how to properly make medicinal-strength herbal teas, using methods such as super infusions and decoctions.
We will take a walk around the farm and talk about the surprising therapeutic properties of culinary herbs, weeds (yes, weeds!), and other plants that may be in your backyard.
You will learn about the therapeutic properties of plants that have been studied to reduce inflammation, support heart health/cholesterol, aid sleep, calm the nervous system, as well as herbs that support your body’s detoxification pathways.
Erin will also discuss the art and science of herbal tea blending and guide you in creating your own tea blend. You will take home a bag of loose leaf herbal tea that you blend yourself in class (which is about 15-20 cups of tea).
Where the Good Grows products will be available for purchase at the end of the event.
Did you know that cacao, the primary ingredient in dark chocolate, is one of the most antioxidant and magnesium-rich foods? But most chocolate on store shelves is overly processed, and loaded with sugar and additives, depleting its potential nutritional power.
Erin Antosh, Clinical Herbalist and CEO of Where The Good Grows, will teach you how to infuse therapeutic plants into chocolate, incorporate medicinal herbs into creamy fillings, use vibrant spices and edible flowers for decoration, and add “superfoods” to boost the nutrient density of your “no longer guilty” pleasure. Chocolate is a creative and tasty way to enjoy the anti-inflammatory, immune-boosting, and stress-relieving properties of therapeutic plants!
In this hands-on class, you will learn the therapeutic properties of various plants, the health benefits of cacao, and then make custom botanical infused chocolate with the medicinal plants that suit your particular wellness goals. You will go home with a box of the infused chocolates that you make in class (if they make it out of class before being eaten)!
As a special part of this on-farm class, Erin will take you on a tour of Love & Grit Farm to see the medicinal plants the farm has growing, and you will have the opportunity to pick some herbs to take home.
